Roof Repair and Roof Replacement in Springdale, AR

Repair or replace gets answered after an inspection, not before one. When the answer is replacement, the old roof comes off down to the deck.

Chapter 01

When a roof is past patching

Most roofs don't fail all at once. You get a stain on a ceiling in March, a few lifted shingles after a spring storm, and a bigger stain the next year. Whether to repair or replace comes down to a short list: the age of the roofing system, the extent of storm or structural damage, how often it leaks, the condition of the shingles or metal panels, and whether the roof deck underneath is still sound.

Hail is the usual trigger around Springdale. A roof can look fine from the driveway and still have bruised, granule-stripped shingles up top. A newer roof with isolated damage can often be repaired and go back to full duty. A roof near the end of its life, with deterioration spread across it, is usually better value replaced than patched again and again.

That is why a Top Hat roofer inspects before anyone talks about a quote. You get a straight answer on repair versus replacement, and the reasons behind it, from a crew with more than 30 years on roofs in Northwest Arkansas.

Why we tear off to the deck

We do not recommend roofing over existing shingles. A second layer adds structural weight the framing may not have been sized for, shortens the life of the new shingles, hides deck damage you would rather find now than in five years, raises the risk of leaks, and makes the next replacement harder and messier for whoever does it.

So the old roofing comes off and the new system goes directly onto the roof deck. Soft or damaged decking gets found while the roof is open, not after it is buried. Attachment is right, flashing lands where it belongs, and the finished roof sheds water the way the manufacturer designed it to.

We install architectural shingle roofing, metal roofing systems, commercial roofing systems and storm damage restoration roofing, following manufacturer guidelines and holding TAMKO Pro Certified status. Call (479) 751-0432 and we will set up the inspection.

Chapter 03

The warranty, and what a customer said

We stand behind replacements with a 10 Year Edge-to-Edge Leak-Proof Warranty on qualifying roof and gutter replacements. Edges, transitions and penetrations are where water finds its way into a roof, so that is where the attention goes during an install. Ask us what qualifies when we walk the roof with you.

Duane Bender, a Google reviewer in June 2026, described a hail replacement this way: “We were very pleased with Top Hat Roofing. They did a great job replacing our roof after hail damage, and they arranged subcontractors to replace rain gutters and repair other hail damage. Matt was on top of all aspects of the repairs, always keeping me informed and setting expectations.”

Being kept informed matters more than people expect. A roof job runs for days, weather moves the schedule, and the homeowner is the one living under it. Telling you what is happening before you have to ask is part of the work.

If the real problem is a leak you cannot place, start with roof leak detection. Roofs with skylights are covered on the skylights page, and a replacement is a good time to look at solar attic ventilation, since the roof is already open.
