Solar Attic Fan Installation in Springdale, AR
Solar powered attic ventilation that pulls trapped heat and moisture out of the attic, with no added electricity and no wiring.
Chapter 01
What a stale attic does to a roof
An attic that can't breathe causes trouble in both seasons. In summer, trapped hot air bakes the roofing from underneath, and excessive heat speeds up shingle aging, causing curling, cracking and early failure. In the cooler months, warm air from the living space rises into the attic, meets cold air and condenses.
Over time that moisture turns into mold and mildew growth, wood rot and structural damage, damaged insulation, and ice dams on the roof edge when it gets cold enough. Poor ventilation also pushes cooling costs up, because the heat in the attic works its way down into the rooms below.
Northwest Arkansas swings between humid summers and hard freezes, so an attic gets hit from both directions. Ventilation is one of the cheapest ways to protect the roof you already paid for.

How the fans get installed
We start by evaluating your attic size, roof structure and ventilation needs, which sets the right number of solar vents and where they should sit. A big attic with a single small fan doesn't move enough air, and a fan in the wrong spot can miss the hottest part of the roof.
A fan means a new opening in the roof, so the installation is mostly roofing work: roof penetration sealing, flashing integration, secure mounting, leak protection measures and a final system test. Leak-free performance is the whole point, because a vent that drips defeats the reason you bought it.
The units run on sunlight and need no electrical wiring, which keeps the install straightforward. Call Top Hat at (479) 751-0432 and we will look at your attic and your roof before recommending anything.
Chapter 03
What you get once it is running
Solar attic fans add no electricity usage. They run quietly, and they work automatically whenever sunlight is present, so they run hardest on the hot afternoons when the attic needs them most. There is very little to maintain once they are up.
By removing trapped hot air and excess humidity, the fans help lower attic temperatures, reduce strain on your HVAC system, keep the attic drier, and extend the lifespan of your shingles and other roofing components. A drier attic also protects the insulation and structural wood.
Potential energy rebates may be available for solar attic ventilation, so ask about them when we talk. Putting a fan in during a re-roof is a natural pairing, since the roof is already open and the flashing can be done right the first time.

A fan is best paired with a sound roof, so see roof repair and replacement if yours is aging. Moisture stains in the attic can also point to a leak, which is a job for roof leak detection, and skylights can add airflow to the rooms below.
